All persons who may operate any type of industrial lift truck must first be adequately educated and field tested on EACH TYPE of vehicle assigned. Records of such training, including individual performance, must be properly maintained and ready for inspection. Operators must be re-tested every two years or whenever an operator is found at fault in a crash.
Possessing a driver licence for a road passenger or commercial vehicle does not automatically qualify the individual for lift truck operator. Some jurisdictions do however require all potential lift truck operators be in possession of such a licence before training begins.
TDG - Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification
Individuals qualifying under Transport Canada Regulations must be formally educated and trained in those regulations as they apply to the individual's involvement with Dangerous Goods.
Individuals certified for transport by road must be re-certified every three years before the certificate expires. Individuals certified for air transport must be re-certified every two years.
